Local Authority refusing to furlough me

I have a problem and need help please.
last year I worked on PAYE and a self employed basis.
last year I worked on PAYE and a self employed basis.
My PAYE is more than my self employment. Therefore I believe I should claim furlough. Two of my PAYE employers are going to pay me Furlough. My main employer however is Enfield Local Authority and they have refused and also did not offer to redeploy me. They did 4 other zero contract employees however.
I have checked and I can’t get the self employed grant because I earned less this way. However as the Local Authority won’t pay me I am now losing out on my main income. What can I do??

Apply for Universal Credit. Local Authorities have been told not to use the scheme.1

I can’t claim universal credit as I am working temporarily in supermarkets0

Whether you're entitled to it will depend on your circumstances. If you live with a partner you claim as a couple.Savings/capital of more than £16,000 will exclude you. A claim for UC will end any tax credits you may already be claiming.Either way a local authority can't furlough you. Use a benefit calculator to check entitlement to UC. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/

You already answered your own question in your first comment. As your PAYE income was more than your self employed income then no you won't qualify.

There’s not a lot you can do. Furlough is at the discretion of the employer, if they choose not to do it for whatever reason that doesn’t negate the fact that last year your PAYE was more than your self employment, That hasn’t changed.0

Can anyone clear this up for me please? I am a civil enforcement officer (Formerly known as a traffic warden), and as I have terminal cancer with post chemo, am considered to be very vulnerable and am currently self isolating for 12 weeks. My wife works for a national supermarket and has been furloughed by them as she will increase my risk of serious infection by Covid 19.
However, my employer will not furlough me as they are financed by government funding and, as such, cannot claim under the furloughing system. I receive SSP but cannot claim anything else because of my wife's furlough earnings. Should my employer claim furlough for me?
Thanks, in anticipation,
Rob

The question is not should your employer furlough you, the question is could your employer furlough you.rob1231 said:Can anyone clear this up for me please? RobAs terrible as your circumstances are, with your wife working at a supermarket they didn’t have to furlough her, they’ve done the decent thing and allowed her to stay at home. if your wife or your own employer doesn’t want to furlough you then there’s unfortunately nothing you can do other than claim the SSP and look at what other benefits you might be entitled to.0 -
