Virgin Holiday Rebook

My family has booked a Florida holiday with Virgin. There are seven in the party and we're meant to are travelling this coming August. We are due to pay the balance by May 14th. Unfortunately, however, we now have to rebook. We have two key workers in the group (who will struggle to take the leave now) + someone in a high risk category. We don't want to cancel, just change the holiday to summer 2021. I've tried calling numerous times, but all avenues blocked. I've messaged via Facebook several times, but no response. I understand fewer staff are working and those flying imminently need to be prioritised however, having to part with £1000s, when our financial and personal situation has now changed, and without being able to discuss alternative options, is really frustrating. Has anyone else encountered this and got through to the other side?

Can't help you with Virgin question, but if you want to rearrange have you checked out insurance for 2021 especially if with the high risk

I'm in exactly the same boat, balance due on the 15th May, supposed to be flying out to Florida in early August but can't get hold of anyone from Virgin Holidays to discuss changing my booking to next year. If I know what the cost implication is for moving my booking I can then decide what to do. I am within the 84 days window so if I cancel then I will only run the risk of losing the deposit, any longer I then lose 30% of the holiday.
The way I see it is that they are in breach of their own contract as we cannot get through to anyone in that organisation to discuss amending our current bookings which is one of our rights if we choose to as part of the T&C's of the bookings, if they cannot do this then they are in breach.
I will not be paying the balance next week and I've explained my situation to them in a letter which I posted this morning (first class recorded).
I totally understand their position, they have got thousands of cancellation and everyone is requesting a refund but their is not enough cash in the bank to pay everyone out. I think the company will fold very soon but that my opinion anyway, it's a great shame it has come to this.

Are you able to get this by doing a dummy new online booking for your chosen 2021 holiday?

I would quite happily have a Government backed voucher to use in 2/3 years time, but with the Government refusing to do this, and all money sites advising to get a refund only, I don't really see that I have much of a choice.0 -
Hi folks, we are in a similar position to those above, i.e. Holiday booked through Virgin Holidays for August, balance due 13-May. We don't now want to go this year - regardless of any future US / UK gov policy changes - and can only see 2 options ...
1) Cancel and lose our deposit ... which we would rather do than pay our balance now (£10K+).
Can anyone inform me of how to cancel the holiday, ideally online (as it is impossible to speak to anyone at Virgin).
If we don't pay the balance does the holiday simply cancel itself, if so can we expect any hidden charges ?
2) Look to reschedule to next summer, however, I'm not sure how to do this as no one will talk to us (and as mentioned above we don't want to pay our balance now and tie up a big chunk of money. Any advice ?
Any help much appreciated0 -
It's best to check your T&Cs as some have paid low deposits (not sure if Virgin do this) but still expected to pay more if cancelled it should tell you what you are liable for,
One advice I would say if thinking of rebooking, check out new travel insurance for the US, (I doubt any company will cover for COVID-19)
