I am currently stuck in Malta - the airport has been closed for 7 weeks and of course the sea port is also closed. Yesterday, I receive a text from Three stating that unless I return to the UK within two weeks I will become liable for charges due to the length of time abroad (their GoRoam offering, where you are not charged more when abroad in dozens of countries). I would dearly love to be home, but it's not going to happen. I have used their chat app, but it keeps disconnecting once the chat starts, and have used Twitter and Facebook, but to no avail. This is distressing as it is my contact to the UK, and it's not as if I am doing this purposefully. Has anyone else had such a text, and/or have a direct contact at Three that I could email? To think they are looking to make money off the back of this pandemic is sickening, and I will be looking to change provider as and when back in the UK!

Have you checked the terms on the Three website? Roaming should be covered by EU rules but Three appear to have included some form of limit (20GB) which may be a Three issue or a EU rules issue.
Why not get a local (Maltese) PAYG sim and use that - EU rules again. It's going to be less than Three's charges

- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

Yes my sister did this morning . She is stuck in Greece.
The charges they apply will kick in on SMS , calls etc in two weeks she said . She is using free wifi and WhatsApp to remain in contact as much as possible to avoid extra charges .
Poor show on Three's part to send these out during a time when people are stuck.

In all fairness, Three wont know they are "stuck", its an automated procedure.0

Without digging out the regs, I believe they dont allow for someone to go abroad and use unlimited amounts and there is indeed a usage cap.Galloglass said:Have you checked the terms on the Three website? Hmm. Skyscanner showing a Malta to London route still open (10am departure tomorrow) with Air Malta, and the airport website confirms this in the schedule for tomorrow along with a few others. It also shows the inbound of the London route coming back in today, so must be a daily flight. Tickets still available for £110 at 10am tomorrow.Huw66 said:I am currently stuck in Malta - the airport has been closed for 7 weeks and of course the sea port is also closed. How sure are you the airport has been closed for 7 weeks? 🤔🤔
EDIT - look at this. https://www.airmalta.com/information/about/special-news-overview/special-news-detail/air-malta-relocating-to-terminal-2-at-london-heathrow
See, flights still going. Book a flight and go home, as per Government advice. How hard did you actually look? 😂0 -
Did you book that Air Malta flight home yet OP?0
