Merkersia Premium Text Scam

Merkersia are at it again. Scamming consumers.
Recently, been victim to this as my O2 bill rocketed to £50 from £20.
What they do:
  • Send you a "PIN" Text, informing you that you've signed up to a premium service and to reply with a PIN number to start the texts.
  • Without your knowledge or replying, you'll start receiving premium text messages.
  • Even if you blocked them on your phone, they'll still be racking up the bill.
  • After numerous emails/phone calls and proof to O2, I finally got my money back.
  • Now Merkersia are spamming me via "Private Numbers" to Confirm I've cancelled.
How to stop it before it happens:
  • Add a spend cap to your phone bill for ALL premium rates.
They've already had a £250,000 fine from the regulator around this. I've reported them again.
