Virgin - is partial refund possible for partial cancellation?

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows the answer to this: we purchased a Virgin return ticket London to New York. Outward leg to NYC was used in January. Return leg back to the UK was due to be used in May, has now been cancelled.
Virgin is offering to reschedule any time until Dec of this year, but we won’t be able to reschedule before then.
Thanks for any advice about what consumer rights are in this situation.

You are entitled to a full cash refund of that flight under EU law.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Thanks. Do you know how they work out the refund of part of a return flight? Is it 50%?Life__Goes__On said:You are entitled to a full cash refund of that flight under EU law.0 -
Did you get a full breakdown of costs? sometimes like a VAT receipt that lists each flight airport tax and any other costs.

I'll have a look in the small print of the confirmation email. ThanksLife__Goes__On said:Did you get a full breakdown of costs? sometimes like a VAT receipt that lists each flight airport tax and any other costs.

No, it won't be as things like taxes and general yield/demand will mean flight segments have differing prices. There is no simple way to calculate it. You will be at the mercy of the airline to tell you the value of the unflown/cancelled segment JFK/LHRbuyitall said:

Thanks - presumably that would bring it down to zero value!Westin said:

No, I think they would offer the partial refund but to set expectations it won't be half the round trip fare. I suspect perhaps 35%-40%. Taxes ex LHR and UK are higher and that is the flown segment.1
