I am due to go to Florida in September and as I have just had a flight with BA cancelled I think this one will also go. My problem is that I have booked private accommodation separately and wondered if the FO still advises against travel (which my insurance company won't cover) and Florida is not in lock-down can I get a refund from the management company. I am due to pay the balance in August (about £1400). I don't know whether to withhold this payment  and lose my deposit or pay it and hope I can still go. As my insurance won't cover me (through Holiday Extras) could I get "drawback" through my credit card company from a foreign bank?

If the place in the US is open, then you won't be due any refund from the accommodation, as they have fulfilled their side of the contract. ( How you get there isn't their problem)

Thanks for the response, but it makes no difference if the place is open at the moment as the USA has banned incoming flights from UK, so I couldn't get there even if I wanted to. So it appears to be reasonable that its at their end where the problem lies!

You would think it works like that but is doesn't
It is your responsibility to get to the accommodation, if you are barred from travelling that's an issue between you and the US Government.
Travel insurance are for cases such as this, as long as it's included in your policy.

My take on it the same at Life_Goes_On.
Sadly one of the pit falls of not buying as a package or linked travel arrangement.   That said even poor package holiday customers are facing uphill struggles and mess regarding refunds and rescheduling.

Also another problem, if it's an annual insurance and due to be renewed before the trip, even travel insurance won't cover it.
