Refund following relatives death

Hi,
My father-in-law recently passed away. He had a holiday booked for later this month (flight booked through easy jet, hotel booked directly). He had travel insurance but this doesn't cover refund in case of death. My question is whether it is whether we should contact relevant companies requesting a refund given his death, or becuase the holiday would have been cancelled due to coronavirus anyway to request refund on his behalf due to this?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

If it is later this month Easyjet are giving refunds once flights are cancelled, there is an online form that can be filled in.
However the refund would go back to the same card and you may have closed the account by then.0 -
Travel insurance which doesn't pay out on the death of the policy holder?! Which insurer, we need to know in order to avoid them. The only valid reason I can see for refusal to pay is if a pre-existing condition hadn't been declared.

I have never in over 30 years of advising on travel seen a policy that does not cover death. Death and serious illnesses are the number one reason for claims to cancel. The companies would not normally cancel free of charge because of death as they would assume it is an insurable risk, and frankly, most companies are only offering vouchers in the name of the passenger instead of cash refunds, which won't help at all2

It reads as if the policyholder passed away through natural causes in the UK.Would travel insurance pay out where the subject hasn't actually travelled ?Just curious. If refunds are due, I assume they would be paid back to the original payment source and become part of the deceased's estate ?0

If you are covered for illness, why not death? Unless the cause of death was due to an undeclared pre existing condition0

They all seem to cover death if it happens prior to travel. They need a copy of the death cert and may ask GP for info about pre-existing conditions if the COD looks like it may have been a long term condition0

"They all seem to cover death if it happens prior to travel."Presumably only if the flight / holiday / cruise etc. has not been cancelled by the operator prior to death ?Just curious.0
