Wedding cancelled /Coronavirus/credit card

My wedding was planned for next month. Due to Coronavirus restrictions there is no way it will go ahead. Have wedding insurance but there is a clause that says they won't cover in this case. Venue are happy to postpone, but none of the dates are suitable. We paid the deposit on our credit card. Can we claim under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act?

Potentially.  Depends on the terms of your contract with the venue.

Section 75 doesn't give you any additional rights above those you already have.
  • Talk to a lawyer about whether the law around Frustrated Contracts applies. I think it probably does because both you and the venue will be prevented from fulfilling the contract (I’m not a lawyer, though) unless restrictions are lifted, and, in that event,  you will be entitled to your deposit back.  I may be wrong though!

Can you explain a little more about this "clause" that says your insurance won't cover you? I'd be amazed if there was something about a global pandemic stipulated in wedding insurance pre-covid.

What do you mean when you say there is no way it will go ahead - do you mean the Venue have cancelled or you just don't want to go

...or.... it would be illegal to have it. Being the most likely case.
