Reading the latest email about the Competitions & Markets Authority challenging firms offering vouchers but no cash refund, is this only UK companies? I was due to go to Rome 16/03 but then the lockdown happened. Flights, accommodation & Vatican tickets refunded however the Colosseum are only offering a voucher which needs to be used within one year of the site reopening. Ticket cost was £65 total, so less than the excess on my insurance so claiming via that route was out. Have had no luck contacting Halifax (Clarity) to enquire about CC refund/chargeback thus far. So wondering whether I have any other option other than returning to Rome within a year or writing it off?

Last time I looked at my atlas, Rome was in Italy.

Did the Italian’s sell it to clear some of their EU debt?

Did you buy it all at the same time?

No everything booked separately. Colosseum tickets purchased via official route, same with Vatican which issued automatic refunds. - different country I guess!

apart from a chargeback  is it a voucher you  could sell?  can't see any other options.

Unfortunately, sometimes there just aren't any.
  • Possibly sell..maybe we’ll just look to go the same time next year. At the end of the day to be <£100 out of pocket from the whole trip I see that as fairly positive, especially as all the other refunds were no hassle at all (unlike the many stories being reported).
