O/S Daily Wednesday 6 May 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright sunny start to the day but we've had a bit of a frost, so air is chilly.
DH watching tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was roast chicken thighs, LO roast pork, mash, yorkshires, veg and gravy - clean plates all round. Tonight will be either fish or gammon and egg.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad, last day today until Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's a lovely morning here, but just above freezing at the moment. It'll warm up a bit though.Yesterday was ok, a quiet day, but they all are at the moment! This morning I've got a hospital appointment, but shouldnt be there long. While I'm out i must get a birthday card for one of our grandsons in Oz, and get it airmailed today - normally I would have done it by now. It should get there in time .We'll call at DD's on the way home, and borrow her carpet cleaning machine, and I've got a hot air hair styler for her that's too big for my hair, so I'll leave that.We hired a carpet cleaner from one of the supermarkets last year, and it wasn't very good - it leaked, and didn't seem to make a lot of difference. In an attempt to get our living room carpet really clean DH used too much water on it, and it ended up smelling like an old wet dog for a few days - at one point I thought we were going to have to get a new carpet but the old dog smell faded.DD bought an up to the minute carpet cleaner last year and she says it's pretty good, so we'll try it over the next couple of days.Thats our excitement for the day, going out whoo hoo, and seeing DD and family!!Hope everyone has a good Wednesday, take care folks13

Morning folks.Yesterday I found myself watching episodes of Lucifer (again) on Amazon, after four I got bored. Today I must go out. It's far too easy to just idle away the day. My hip needs exercise as well as exercises. I'm a tad unhappy as I'm still wobbling which makes walking difficult. Upside is that I'm pain free from my hip 😀 but this wobbling hurts my back. ☹️My SIL sent through a photo of her four grandchildren from one son. Surely he has to stop? 😱 Anyway, they are a lovely family who are enjoying the good life in QLD living with cows, sheep, chickens and growing a huge range of fruit and vegetables. Almost idyllic, until last week when the wild dogs got two sheep and three lambs.Right, I'm awa'. SR - let us know how your carpet cleaning goes please.Virtual hugs all round. Happy Wednesday to all.10

Morning All
Another beautiful morning but still quite chilly. I think the garden will need watering later as it's been very dry again. It wasn't overly warm yesterday and there was a chilly wind about.
I painted the gate at the side of the house, the fence paint said black but it's a dark grey, actually quite nice. I may carry on along the fence until I run out of paint! I'm surprised at what I have in that cellar, it's gradually getting cleared and all the old cans of paint are put to one side to take to the tip whenever it re-opens. Our recycling bins are going to be emptied from next week which is good news.
I'm off to work today (and tomorrow), I have all the reports to put in envelopes so should be busy enough. I'll call at DDs on the way home to wave at Sophie.
Have a happy Wednesday, take care. XX11 -
Morning all its most definatly on the chilly side here i have put the heating on for half an hour to take the chill off DS has gone to work and DH is doing a couple of night shifts so he will be doing very little today . I keep seeing peoples DIY all over FB but really cant get the motivation to bother oh well as long as its clean and water proof we will be fine . Dinner tonight will be some left over beef mash n veg as its just DS and me right better get moving or i will turn to ice sitting still
Have a great day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini11 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here but with a chill in the air, bins have gone out this morning and OH will power wash them all when they are emptied.
I have a check up today at the hospital, I think im going quite well in my recovery but I want them to look at the lump which I am sure is quite normal and also my boob which is sore and burning and my nipple which is hurting and anything I put on, a bra or t-shirt hurts like mad, Im sure these things are normal but I just want them checked.
Chicken with noodles and stir fry veg for dinner, I dont really like stir fry but the others do and I love noodles so will be a trouper and eat it anyway !!
We need to have a quick tidy round today and it could do with a hoover and mop and things putting away.
Have woken hungry this morning so off for some toast and marmite and maybe some fruit and yogurt.
Have good days all xx

Morning everyone, it is bright and sunny here but still a bit cold.
Yesterday I did loads of washing and, most unlike me, did the ironing immediately. It was only pillowslips. Then I reverted to my true inner slattern and forgot to take the clean laundry upstairs. I messed about in the garden and today I might move the daffodil plants as the flowers are gone.
I'm not sure what my chaps do in the kitchen when I'm not looking but the floor needs washing again. Still training OH in use of compost pot. It is not as if we never composted before.
I have flowering shrubs but very little for summer colour. Hardly the end of the world. There is lots of cranesbill and they are a pretty blue. Just not much variety. The aquilegia is flowering and that's one of my favourites.
Ruby, hope the nurse is able to make you more comfortable.
Gers and Monna I'm not commenting on the haircut thread of monumental selfishness but I cut my fringe the other day and now am less like Chewbacca. I had my waist length hair chopped off into a chin length bob last year, in March, but had not got round to going again and now it is below my shoulders. I can wear it down, and it is mouse colour, or up and that shows my white stripes. I like the white bits best, that was the downside of having it cut off. I remember reading somewhere that women over the age of 40 should not have long hair as it makes us look like old witches. What utter tosh, I'll be 69 this month and I've earned the right to my witchiness. In any case, I'm not going out and exposing my family to risk.
I hope everyone has a tolerable day. My own plan is to make lighthouse shaped beanbags for my friend's therapeutic children's group. Then back to the trauma teddies.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Morning all,
Goodness me, everyone here seems very purposeful and busy. Come on out you sloths, I am feeling lonely.
Bright and sunny at the moment but I see that temperatures are going to nose dive on Sunday. Well, we've had a wonderful April so I suppose we can't grumble. But we will, won't we? I keep rubbing my hands in glee at all the heating bills which must be at an unprecedented low.
RR, I hope the hospital appointment goes well and perhaps they can do something about your discomfort.
SR, I'd also be interested to hear how the carpet cleaning goes. I've never found a system that that works really well and as I've always had fairly light coloured carpets I could do with finding something that really works.
My plans for the day are.....um.....fluid I think might be a good description. I may come back later and report on what I've done, if I manage to do anything reportable.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Morning all! Sunny sunny sunny so far...Was rudely woken by the delivery of a food parcel, again, wasn't quick enough to say no thank you, but again, will phone the local scrapstore and donate it to them, At then end of last year they were beginning to get food donations from local businesses and selling for donations if you could afford and none if you couldn't, alongside everything else they sell but with the coming of this thing, they're now delivering food parcels to the elderly and vulnerable who can't get out. So the government is inadvertently supporting a local food bankOH almost single handedly filled the skip yesterday. I expect he'll be a bit creaky today but as he informed last night, it's double xp on COD for two days so he'll get his rest in I'm beginning to wonder why on earth I started this....Now that the blocks and big bits are out [ we hope!] I'll get back to riddling what's left to be lowered, and I have plans to make a pebbled seating area by the back door so the chairs don't sink into the grass when you sit on them. It is nice to sit under the tree in the back when i's cool in summer but you run the risk of being shat on by pigeons who nest in it. The pebbles will come from riddling what's underneath the big square hting at the back. I still don't know why on earth someone would por conrete to make a base that big..Maybe they had plans for an enormous workshop or something. I'll ask the neighbour if I see him.On the plus side, the extra excercise seems to be doing me good, last night was the first time I slept on my right side since the op, and I feel decidely less creaky than normal today. And I am still avoiding housework...Although I did wash a few dishes so they don't pile up again and ramen didn't happen, a concoction similar to a chicken fried rice happened without the frying. Doubling down on the rice meals...and I too need a haircut, having discovered it is so much easier to wash and go, but we have no working clippers in the house bar OHs beard trimmers..I feel a skinhead coming on...it'l grow by the time anyone sees me anywayRUby, write your questions down to ask them in case you forget, I know I used to. Also tell them about the type of pain it is. Camelot, you are definitely ramping up to be the most productive this week...I do like a story about how justins are being used ...:) Rock it AOD, I think it looks cool. nanny, but did you still have the rabbith hutch? Monna, I'd never heard of twiddlemuff before, they sound pretty cool..Hey all reading along, hope you're good/alive/hanging on in there, have a wonderful Wednesday..Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...11

I would do skinhead butafft I have a patch of scalp psoriasis at the back and I think it would be very unsightly for others, I can't see it
I am still in my Monna ifpjsM that helps. I say pjs but the top is an old one that used to be a normal top and the bottom was actual pjs but is now tattered rags partly attached to a waistband. I did brush my hair and teeth though. I will get dressed now.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back10 -
Morning, didnt get on yesterday at all so just been catching up. It's beautiful today if a tad chilly. Taff we don't have any clippers either, DH is starting to look a bit like a mad professor. I cut my fringe a couple of weeks ago so I'll do for a bit, the rest of it's out of shape but so what - not seeing anyone. My DB1 rang, he's a bus driver and is being furloughed for 3 weeks, their services have been cut down. I know I see our hourly bus sailing past with no one on, it's a quiet route anyway. Will make a few more scrubs bags this afternoon, the overlocker seems ok at the moment. The group has had some more requests for them. Not decided whats for tea yet, will dig something out of the freezer!Bye for now and take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
