Removal of £3 monthly loyalty bonus for keeping your account in Credit with Halifax?
Yet they can give £100 to new customers switching?
Wheres the loyalty to their mainstream customers and why does it feel like they pulling the rug from under the loyal customers??
One of the tenets of this website is to encourage customers to dutch and switch.
Are you sure you're receiving a £3 monthly reward? Halifax dropped it to £2 a month in 2018: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2018/07/halifax-to-slash-current-account-rewards/.
Currently, for jumping through a few hoops Halifax rewards customers with £2 a month. From June Halifax will reward customers with £5 (or other goodies) a month for jumping through other hoops.2 -
There is already an existing thread about the forthcoming changes to the Halifax Reward account.
Also, Halifax are not offering £100 for switching to them. AFAIK, no bank has any active switching offers2 -
you will have to pay £3.00 a month unless you pay in £1500 a month
Reward Current Account Changes
We’re changing the Reward Current Account soon. This is what’s changing from 1 July 2020:
- There’ll be a £3 monthly maintaining the account fee, with no fee if you pay in at least £1,500 in the previous month.
- We're removing the £2 reward payment.
- You'll get access to Reward Extras. Choose an offer and for 12 months you can earn either £5 or a lifestyle benefit for each month that you meet the conditions.
If you'd like to keep your Reward Current Account, call us on or before 12 June 2020 to let us know. If we don't hear from you, we’ll change you to a Current Account.

Do you currently receive the £2/month?0 -
Miraculously I managed to get straight through on normal phone number. Informed that there is a problem with dedicated line today and to try again tomorrow. Operatives unable to deal with this and can only be done using the 03451299744 number. Absurd that this cannot be dealt with using internet banking.1

Phoned help line today because dedicated number just cut straight off. Person I spoke to gave me incorrect advice regarding conditions, which I queried. After referring to the letter sent to customers, apologised for his error. Not a good start. After a lengthy conversation then told that I would be connected to another department who then connected me to the automated line. Personally I cannot guarantee to spend £500 on my debit card, as I use my Halifax credit card for large purchases. However, may do now and again, so worth keeping the Rewards account. Automated questions didn't cover this option, it was just a yes or no to can you spend £500 a month. Gave up. Will revert to normal current account and start looking to switch.0

If you had selected the DC spend option, in any month you did not spend the £500 you would not receive the benefit the next month. If the following month you did spend that amount, you get the reward for it.
