Curtesy car

My daughter had her new car written off in Feb, she was given a curtesy car until 7 days after settlement which was made 2 weeks ago. We are having ongoing emails asking for the car back but through no fault of her own she is unable to buy a new car as the dealers are closed and without it she can't get to work. Can she insist on keeping it until she's able to buy another?

She could ask, not quite sure she can insist. It is also no fault of the dealers either. Can't see agree to pay a rental charge for the car? Assuming she has it from a garage, the one I use have a charge for each day you keep the car after the agreed time.

How did the write off happen? Someone is at fault for her "loss" whether it is her or another driver. They are the ones that should be covering the cost of a replacement, and not the garage. The garage are being polite by not issuing a claim against your daughter for the return of their goods and their loss for not having their own property back.

What has the insurance company said as they are in the frame (as well as whoever caused the write off)
    • All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
    • When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
    • "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
    • All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.

On total loss, once the payment is made, that is the end of it and the loan car is due back.

Hire companies are still open and also many garages doing remote delivery.  Can't one of these options be used?
