Eurotunnel upgrade to get refund?

I know a few have been frustrated by Eurotunnel's strong stance that they are running trains therefore no refund is coming even if the British and French Government are not permitting travel.
I noticed that re-booking allows the upgrade to FlexiPlus - has anyone had any success with claiming a refund against a ticket that was originally a standard ticket and has been upgraded to FlexiPlus?

Hi Mister_E, sounds like a good workaround and I too would be really keen to hear if anyone has succeeded with it. I agree it is wrong of EuroTunnel to claim they are operating their service so no refunds required --it's much like an airline saying it will still fly people overseas when the government has banned the supply of oxygen to anyone but the pilots! I've just heard back from Eurotunnel regarding this very issue as thought this might be a good workaround for us.
They have confirmed that in the event of upgrading the ticket, you would only be refunded the upgrade price not the totality of the reservation cost and it would not extend the expiry date of the ticket, therefore only 12 months from original booking date.0
