Mitsubishi ASX 4th Service

I bought my car new in 2017 and I bought service plan for 3 years for £450. I have been in touch with two dealers today asking how much for  a 4th and 5th service plan. Garage where I bought car from said £600 and the other £660. I understand this is the big service with gearbox oil change and filters changed. I only do 5000 miles a year if that. Do you think it's expensive?. I could go to my local non franchise garage which will be a lot cheaper but i would be concerned about the warranty. hoping. I am hoping to keep the car for 15 years so I want it looking after .

    5yr/62.5k on new ones now.

Yes, you can get it serviced outside the dealer chain - but you're going to need to get documentary evidence that the service is to the same standard as dealer, using the same quality parts. And even then, you're going to have to push for any warranty claim, and goodwill outside the warranty is going to be non-existent.

Is it expensive? Yes. Probably slightly more than the per-mile cost of fuel. But if you want to run a brand new car through a warranty period yet do negligible miles, you have to accept that it's costing you an arm and a leg per mile. So far, you're about £10k down in depreciation alone. Add everything together, it's probably closing on a quid a mile.

600 quid for the 4th and 5th or just the 4th?

Whatever the Freds say, ignore them, unless you have skills or plenty of spare cash.

Filters are deady easy to change. Gearbox oil change is so easy a child could do it. That's what happened with my last gearbox oil change. My daughter poured the oil in from the top while I watched to see when it was full.

    And there he is...

he is so wise, yet still doesn't understand there is more to a 4th service than simply changing the filters and oil.  Some things can't be fixed.

Every car has a different service schedule. There is no standard '4th service'. I just do whatever is on the schedule. Just saying those extra jobs aren't very complicated.

The OP has stated it is the major service.  There is usually an A service and a B service.  Try reading the post before you go on your usual diatribe.  Not everyone has the same skillset and despite being told this many times you arrogantly keep going on about how simple it is.  At certain points, brake fluid needs to be changed.  I wouldn't touch that with a bargepole.

If you will choose to go to original dealer, the price you showing is a bit above normal, but if you will do the service outside the dealership network - it's too much to pay price like this.
