NET ZERO C02
Saw this elsewhere , and whilst it won't affect me in 2050, it will affect anyone who might want to drive a 'classic'. OR as per usual, they will probably move the goalposts , until it does affect all of us

No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.
Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten.

"NET ZERO" So I produce 1000 tons of CO2 but I planted 10 super trees that consumes 1000 tons of CO2. I produce no CO2.
Just fiddling the numbers.
Nobody must ask how much CO2 got produced in planting the trees because my numbers wont work then.

1. It's a parliamentary petition, they all get ignored no matter their merits or number of signatures. Even if they're signed by 1/8 of the electorate, 1/5 of all active voters...
2. It's based on a completely wrong statement. "There was no party in the 2019 general election standing in all 650 seats that was against net zero to give voters the choice to vote against it." We'll ignore the minor detail that there was no party at all which stood in all 650 seats... 2050 Net Zero was in the Tory Manifesto - https://www.conservatives.com/our-plan
Labour's manifesto softened from their conference commitment to 2030, but they were clear they wanted net zero "well before" 2050.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/nov/18/labour-persuaded-to-soften-pledge-of-net-zero-emissions-by-2030 - so that's the two parties that won 567 of 650. Include the SNP, and you're at 602 seats - they said 2040.
3. It's idiotic. The date needs to come forward, not go back, unless you're the kind of muppet who's in denial about man-made climate change existing.
