Can a redundancy payment be split?

My employer has just started the process of making myself and several colleagues redundant (all currently furloughed) and issued each employee with the amount they will receive. I should receive 18 weeks statutory payment plus 12 weeks company notice on top. They have stated that this redundancy payment will be split over the next 3 months and paid monthly. Are they allowed to do this rather than pay one lump sum? I would take a guess that they will continue to claim furlough payments for the next two months for each employee and top this up with the 20% and pass it off as as a monthly redundancy payment, are they allowed to do this? Thanks

Ask them why they are splitting it over the time and if you think they are using the government money to pay redundancy you can report them.0
