Rock and a hard place!

I've been furloughed for 6 weeks but have been told by my bosses I must continue to work from home to "keep the wheels turning". This involves generating income, albeit a lot less than normal. I challenged this and was told that if we don't "keep the wheels turning", there may not be a business at the end of all this. Where do I stand?

You presumably can work from home, so what is the problem? Are you saying the income you would get is less than the furlough pay?

The problem is it’s fraud and can be reported.

The problem is that someone who has been officially furloughed is not allowed to do any work for their employer - it is a condition of the Job Retention Scheme. If the employer gets the employee to do work their claim to the JRS is fraudulent.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

I'm not supposed to be working, I'm furloughed!

I assumed the furlough pay would cease and you'd then be employed, working from home? Is that still fraudulent?

I think they are saying the employer is claiming the money but still making them work.
The only thing they can do is record what they have worked and report it. Easy enough to say for us not so easy for the employee who might be doing themselves out of a job by reporting it.
