Furlough and administration. Any advice appreciated
My husband has been on furlough for the past month, but then today out of the blue all employees received an email to say that they were going to put the business into administration and have passed it to the courts.
Devastated and worried how we will pay the bills etc.
Will he be paid his furlough wages at the end of the month? Or will he get nothing?
Will he get redundancy pay?
He has worked for the company for 15 years and they are owned by a worldwide company - it is the business in the uk they putting into administration, not the whole business. So upsetting that they should just end all that service by such a blunt email.
Any help/advice appreciated.

You won’t know whether you will be paid until the administrators tell you. I think they can keep you on furlough if they choose to.
If needed look at eligibility for Universal Credit https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/.
There are online calculators to help you assess entitlement https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators
Be aware that claiming UC will end any Tax Credits, Housing Benefit or other means tested benefits you currently get.
You will be excluded from UC if you have savings over £16,000.
You may also be able to claim Council Tax Reduction from your local council.
If you are part of a couple you both have to claim and assessed on your joint circumstances.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Thanks. Have checked and we cannot get universal credit0

My Dads and brothers employer was put into administration in February. It’s scary not knowing what was going on but it was all sorted out very amicably and they were paid all monies that were due.
Obviously there is the complication of the current furlough situation but I just wanted to say try not to over worry at this point, is your husband in a union he can speak to for advice?0 -
Thanks. No he isn’t in a union. It’s the worry of the administration and money, coupled with the prospect of finding another job. Feeling very lost at the minute.0

You’ve said above you’ve looked into UC but can’t get it. There is a possibility of being eligible for new style JSA as alternative it is based on previous years NI contributions which looks like your husband will have paid anyway.
I absolutely appreciate the worry you must be feeling, maybe try ACAS who might be able to offer some guidance through what will happen going forward.0 -
