so at 10:34 today I had my confirmation that my bankruptcy was approved. I feel relieved as now I can afford food but scared of telling the creditors. Very have been very persistent considering I missed a payment for the first time 7 days ago. 5 emails and two phone calls. The last one just now and I don’t know why I didn’t tell her i was bankrupt. Next time they call should I just tell them? Now to try and bank account sorted. I have applied for a nationwide but having to send id once I get a letter. Hoping Barclays can just revert my acc to basic once I get through like the messenger said as all my income is heading into that account! Either that or I now apply for a separate Barclays basic and start moving everything ASAP! Thanks and now to wait for OR call

Hi and I'm glad you got confirmation promptly.
The examiner will notify all your creditors but this can take around 6 weeks.
If you get any calls in the meantime you can tell them you are now BR and quote your BR no.
Any letters you can either ignore or let them know also.
There is nothing they can do so please don't let them get to you0 -
Great work.
While the examiner will notify all of your creditors, I wrote to them all myself right off the bat enclosing a copy of my bankruptcy order.
You'll want to open a new bank account.
Nationwide are a very good bank, you've made an excellent choice. As far as basic accounts go, it's very well featured. I suspect in the long run you'll be happier with them than Barclays.
All the best with your future endeavours!0 -
I found it to be relief that i could answer every phone call after trying to ignore them for so long, just qoute your BR Number and they shouldnt be in touch again, I found them all very good once they knew the situation0

Well done and good luck to you!
In my BR, the judge stamped my papers and said, 'as of 1 min ago you don't owe anyone anything'
Honestly, the relief!
Any creditor letters went straight in the bin, and any calls were answered with a ..'can I stop you you there...I'm bankrupt' - phone down. Exactly what these parasites deserve.
I started of with co-op and then switched to yorkshire bank- both very good.

Bank accounts seem to be sorted. I have moved wages and housing benefit into one and tax credits and child benefit into the other. Means all my direct debits can come out of one and the other is living costs etc. Tax credits may be the issue as payment is due on Monday and the advisor told me it ‘should’ be paid in new account so best to check on the day and hope! Yeah I’ll do that thank
now just waiting for the first call from the examiner. What should I expect from this. I’m guessing it will be either tomorrow or day after. What happens if I miss the call? Will they give me number to call back on. Only reason I ask is I have live online training with work tomorrow morning for two hours and it would be typical if they call then. I’m scared to start off on the wrong foot0 -
Hi all, just an update. My basic bank accounts (opened post bankruptcy)are up and running and I’ve got the debit cards so all good. I’ve just received an email from the examiner detailing all the info and advising me to sort a bank acc etc. It’s being handled through Cardiff. She has advised she is processing and looking through the information and may contact me in a few weeks with any questions and to discuss income and expenses. She also said she will contact my creditors. Do you think this is just a standard email and I will hear from her soon so i can advise of my bank accounts etc
Question about council tax. Do I keep paying this years council tax? I’m confused as I am not in arrears and have but listed it in the bankruptcy but posts I have read make me think i pay this to the OR instead. Maybe I’ve just got myself mixed up about this
thanks Georgia0 -
Hey,
Council tax.. if your not in arrears, there is no need to add it in your bankruptcy. Your not in debt with the council tax. If I reading that correctly..?
Continue to pay as normal..0 -
Sorry yes that’s right, meant to say have not listed it in the bankruptcy.0

Morfx is incorrect. If you live on your own then your council tax for 20-21 is actually a bankruptcy debt and will be included. The reason being, with council tax, the demand is sent at the beginning of April and becomes a debt immediately, it’s just that the council allows you to pay it in instalments. Your OR will contact you about claiming the money you would otherwise be paying the council and claim it on an IPA.
If you don’t live on your own then the others in your household will have to pay it.2 -
Hi yes I do live alone, my next payment is due on June 1st usually paid by direct debit. Do I pay that as usual?0
