Have you asked the council if they have alternative childcare available? They’re coordinating in my area.

  • On the 14th of June I will be returning to work full time after 9 months off with maternity leave. My parents were going to help me with childcare so I didn’t look into getting him into a nursery, but of course since the coronavirus outbreak both my parents are currently in shielding as my mum has a really low immune system. I haven’t spoke to my employer yet as i really don’t know what to say or what to do. ( the company I work for the now have currently furloughed staff but it looks like they will be going back very soon ) Should I speak with them and see what my options are, if there are any? Thanks in advance for any help.

There might be other child minders in your area who can take your children. Check with the council too as they should have a list of childcare providers who should be able to help as you are a key worker.

Yes you should contact them to discuss the options.

Is the role you are going back to classed as the key worker sector? If so you will be able access care through nurseries or a childminder. I appreciate this wasn’t your original intention but it’s something you may now have to consider.

If you are a key worker you could’ve used hub childcare throughout
