Furlough and holiday entitlement

Hello! Looking for enlightenment- a friend has been refused furlough on the basis that holidays continue to be accrued during furlough and that the company is not willing to incur that cost on her behalf as she left for another job (which fell through - hence her application to be furloughed by her previous employer). Is it true that holidays are accrued? With thanks.

Yes as she would be employed. THe amount of holidays that would be accrued probably wouldn't sound like much but it all adds up and re-employing people is an unnecessary cost if they are needing to save money.

Hi, Yes they do continue to be accrued. I believe that if the guidelines are followed correctly then the employer may also be liable to pay a full days rate for bank holidays during the period.
