For my partner who works full time 40 hours a week employed by a small business
he last got paid 19th March as normal stopped working when lock down was announced and the small business had to shut
So has missed 16th April monthly payment which is 4 weeks in arrears , his boss now saying that the money came through very low the accountant misunderstood how the scheme worked and did not apply for the correct money , what should we do or expect ? How does it work for employers do they apply each month ? Shortly it’s time for his May pay and so far he has received nothing since normal pay of March
any advice?

I am an employer , we claimed for 3 weeks when the portal opened ( our employees worked a week we then shut down ) this coincided with our pay rum , we will apply for the next amount when we do our pay run . The money came through to us in full 5 days after submission , we had enough funds to pay the wages on the due date before we received the money. It wasnt overly difficult to work out what to claim back , and I cant imagine an accountant not knowing , plus his employer can always contact HMRC to correct any errors made in submitting the claim, besides there is nothing stopping his employer paying over the amount he did get back , in fact he has toVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

Unfortunately it is not possible to amend a claim once submitted.pelirocco said:... plus his employer can always contact HMRC to correct any errors made in submitting the claim, ..
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/work-out-80-of-your-employees-wages-to-claim-through-the-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme#after-youve-claimedIt is not possible to amend a claim once it is submitted. HMRC are looking to develop a process to allow for amendments to be made. The last sentence holds out the possibility that this may change.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
thanks that’s helpful so the employer applies each month? They seem to be saying they can loan the rest possibly until they get it right but we have no time scale and universal credit only pay a top up but not for another couple of weeks0

so if they got it wrong , cannot amend it , but offer a loan to top it up , he would have to pay it back , seems ridiculous I am very angry that there has been so little communication and now this could be the outcome0
