Debt collector during pandemic
Options
Hi, I am currently in the first stages of setting up an IVA. I have had letters from my debtors saying they may and have passed my debts to a collection company, I would like to know if they are allowed to appear on your doorstep in these uncertain COVID-19 times, I have been trying to call the companies my debts are with (credit cards, loans) but to no avail due to some lines being closed for the foreseeable future and no other ways of contacting them. The Iva person I am using has not replied to recent emails either. I am panicking like crazy that these companies can turn up whilst this pandemic is on going. I have been trying for a while to contact these companies but there’s is just no answer from them to say I’m in the process of setting this Iva up. Can the collection agents still turn up even though I have tried my best to contact people? And if they do how do I resolve this on the doorstep? Any advice is more than welcome. Thanks for reading.

Don't worry. No-one is doing home visits at the moment. The Debt Collection Agencies almost never did anyway.
Are you sure you're doing the right thing with your IVA? Have you taken advice from someone who does not have a product to sell, like National Debtline?0 -
Calm down, debt collectors work from call centres, only one or two still do home visits, and they won`t be doing that right now anyway, debt collectors can just be ignored my freind, they are nothing to worry about, the collection process can take weeks/months even years sometimes, nothing will happen in the meantime. Are you sure an IVA is the right route to take, are you a homeowner, do you have debt over 50k, if you can answer yes, then it may be right or you.If you answer no, then another solution would be better.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
