Furlough beyond when contract was due to end is it fraudulent?

Myself and roughly 150 other students have jobs at university during term times which stretch from September to June, our employer has agreed to furlough us until June but will stop our employment subsequently ending our furlough in June, as they believe it would be fraudulent to claim beyond this time, when term would usually end and there would be no work for us.
However the majority of us would usually go and get jobs during the summer to support ourselves which is now not possible due to COVID-19, would it be fraudulent for our employer to claim beyond June when our contracts would usually end and if so what can we do as we will have no income during the summer time but still have rent, bills, etc to pay?
For some more context the employer: employs us in September and then ends employment in June and then will re-employ us in September again if we are returning to University.

Just to share my experience in case it is of some help. I am an agency worker. My temp booking came to and end two months ago and even though I meet the eligibility criteria of being on employer PAYE as at 19.03, my agency won't furlough me even though they cannot provide me with any work as their temp business has frozen due to Covid 19. Like you, under normal times, I would be working but because of Covid 19, the temp jobs have ceased. Bu agency won't furlough as it says that the furlough scheme is to protect jobs and since mine came to a natural end, they will not furlough. So like you I am stuck, The Guidance however says employer can keep on payroll if no work to do so in my case my agency has no work for me because of Covid 19..... '
If you and your employer both agree, your employer might be able to keep you on the payroll if they’re unable to operate or have no work for you to do because of coronavirus (COVID-19). This is known as being ‘on furlough’.
