I like many others on these Forum am a one man Limited company. I'm don't use PAYE/RTI as I pay myself well below the NI and tax thresholds. But unless you do you cannot claim JRS. Any ideas on how to 'discuss' this with HMRC?

What is there to discuss with them? the rules of the scheme is they’ll pay you 80% of your PAYE salary, provided you’d submitted RTI information by the 19th of March. This was to prevent fraudulent and inflated claims, though many people who changed jobs got caught up in the crossfire. How did you survive before if you paid yourself such a low amount?0

You can't - the rules are clear that you needed to have made an RTI submission by 19 March and you didn't. You need to look at one of the benefits calculators and see if you are entitled to any help from there.MinersStandard said:I like many others on these Forum am a one man Limited company. Unfortunately you chose to pay yourself a minimal amount to minimise your tax liability - this is the downfall of such a move.
Time to check benefits, and what you're entitled to.0 -
Already done, and guess what .... nothing as wife still working and pension too high.mattyprice4004 said:Unfortunately you chose to pay yourself a minimal amount to minimise your tax liability - this is the downfall of such a move.

You could have used the hmrc basic pay app to report earnings through RTI. Plenty of one man limited company bands did that to pay themselves about £700 a month, so below tax and NI levels.MinersStandard said:

I suspect the answer in your case is to stomach the drop in earnings and live off your wife's income and your pensions.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
