It also states the standard and enhanced versions are for employers or regulated bodies to apply for
Thanks for the replies, somewhat confused now :s

Should I apply for a "standard" DBS, or disclose england?
Whats the difference between standard & enhanced DBS?

You cannot apply for a standard or enhanced check. Only a basic check.

What's the job? I suspect this employer falls foul of the ROOA.

  • Thanks Comms,

I'm not sure that is enough for a DBS check to be honest.

Obviously on principle i'd refuse and then report them for breaching the ROOA. But as you may need this job, you can request a basic DBS - in anycase, it's sent to you first, so you can decide what to do with it.

There isn't something named "Disclose England".

You can research further at https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/disclosure-and-barring-service .  (If you Google DBS make sure you go to the gov.uk site, not any of the others which appear in the results (even above the official one).  They just want more of your money.)

In that case report them - offenders have a hard enough time as it is.
