Hi.
Spoken to my travel company today regarding my cancelled holiday...due next week.
They informed me that they will issue me a Refund credit note which will be valid for 12 months. However, if I don't use the credit note before 31/7/20 then I will be able to get a full refund as tgat is the date my ATOL/ABTA cover expires.
I asked why i cant get my refund now and was told that the company implemented a 'force majeure ' in March as per their terms and conditions so I am not entitled to a refund from them.
Seriously confused by this
Any help appreciated

Your travel company is talking rubbish,  who is it?
They should be giving you a cash refund within 14 day,  certainly not lying about your not entitled to one till next year.

  • Solmar villas are the company....booked a package holiday with them.
They actually said I will get the refund after 31st July THIS year.
Still confused as to why I cant get my refund within the 14 days

At a guess they don't have the cash to give out refunds, and if they do they want to keep hold of it as long as possible
At the moment what travel agents should do and what they are doing is very different.

  • My travel agent Imagine Cruising are refusing to refund my cancelled holiday costs until September at the earliest. The package which included a Princess Cruise plus hotel stays was due to start on 12th April, although I was informed on 16th February that the cruise had been cancelled. Imagine insisted that the clock didn’t start ticking until 12th April and then it would be 60 days before I could expect a refund; now that the 60 days have been reached they tell me that I have to wait another 3 months.
They are uncontactable by phone, emails are evasive with no response to my letter to customer service director.
I’ve registered my complaint with Competition & Marketing Authority and also contacted my credit card company.
Is there anymore that I can do?

What happened when you contacted your credit card company?

  • They have indicted that I may have a case either to raise it as a dispute or under a section 75 claim. I’m now pulling the evidence together to submitted it.
Is it worth informing Imagine Cruising of my intention by way of giving them a final opportunity to settle before I do?

I would just raise a Chargeback, I expect the CCC would do that in the first instance anyway, as with a Chargeback Imagine Cruising pay, with a S75 the CCC pays.
Once you raise the Chargeback  you might end up with Imagine Cruising contacting you offering you a refund.

I have been told by my travel company that I cannot have a refund because my booking was  non cancellation.  Is this true?
I decided to try claiming from my travel insurance who also declined because I didn’t have Foreign Office cover.
I then went to my MasterCard and have been told they won’t pay because I cancelled, even though I was following Govt advise not to travel and should be self isolating because I’m over 70.
    Help!

As you have already cancelled  and you wasn't covered by your insurance I feel there is little you can do now.
Sadly I feel you have sought advice too late but if you give full details on what happened maybe something could be done (but don't get your hopes up)

I started asking for refunds in March, but only got the messages back this week.
    Not looking good then?
