Can Anyone advise me if I can travel to France to look after my 76 yr old mother who is about to come out of hospital after heart investigations?
She lives in France (her main domicile) but lives alone and we are concerned about her being alone having had a suspected heart attack. I have been looking at the Exceptional Travel Advice from the UK government and the form I need for travel in France is clear enough but the form for getting into France I do not understand. Can anyone advise exactly what I need to get across the border into France, what forms and which box I need to tick? I will be driving and taking the Eurotunnel. Thank you

I would arrange an urgent trip to the French Embassy .

French customs officials are notoriously "picky" and unless you have every bit of paperwork needed I suspect that they will turn you back

Similar story the other day but the USA , requiring urgent cancer treatment but in the UK . American Embassy arranged paperwork

I hope your mother is ok and you can get to help her.
  • Thank you for your replies - I have managed to get some further information which means that I can travel. I need a letter from the hospital confirming my mother's health and to complete the 'International Travel to Metropolitan France attestation AND the 'Attestation de Deplacement' and I should be fine. Now just waiting to hear when she will be discharged. My sister managed to speak to the French Ministry of the Interior and this seems to be their current advice under my particular circumstances.
