Delivered to the wrong address

I wasn't really sure where to ask this, but this board kind of seems like the best fit.
Just wondering if anyone has had this scenario before... I live on a road and there is a grove next to us. We're forever getting parcels and takeaways for the same number house in the grove delivered to us. Takeaways are easy but like a lot of people we order most of our stuff from Amazon/online these days so it's unusual I even look at the name on the parcel. For years whenever the wrong parcel is delivered me or my partner just take it over to correct house and that's the end of it. The other week we received a letter from one of the shops to say they've delivered to the wrong address and arrange for collection, or something along those lines. Thought nothing of it because we'd already took a parcel over recently and I assume it's that one they are asking about. Today we received another letter from their fraud department to say that the parcel hasn't been received by the customer and they will begin investigations. I didn't sign for anything (I don't think they are even doing that at the minute) and perhaps I should have done my due diligence in checking who the parcel was for. However, just wasn't sure where I actually stood legally? Now I'm questioning whether after all these years I should have even been taking the parcels to the correct house. Any thoughts?

I feel your mistake is in being "helpful" on too many occasions. While I would do the same with a one or two off delivery mistake that was local, a consistent misdelivery like this would lead to a notice on my door "This is *NOT* 123 Acacia GROVE, check before you deliver" and after that, just refuse or "not at this address" and bounce them back.

While it may be incompetent delivery, you may discover that the actual recipients have realised that you can be exploited, so they order stuff hoping for a mis-deliver to you, then when you drop it off, they claim "not received" and get a refund/freebie, leaving you to explain it all.

You could contact the company and say that as you did not order this item, and have no business with them, you don't understand why they are contacting you, suggesting they address the letter to the correct address along with all future parcels, and use a delivery company that can read.
