Hi all,
Hope you're all keeping safe, hoping for a little help, I've had an American Express card for a year (gold one) and I've forgotten to cancel it and just been charged £140, I'm assuming they have a cooling off period? What can I do in terms of keeping the points and not losing them? while cancelling the card?
Any help really appreciated.
Thanks
Max

I believe if you downgrade to The American Express® Rewards Credit Card you keep the points or you could spend the point/ transfer out to airlines/nectar/ect

I may be wrong, but I think that you can cancel or downgrade and get a pro rata refund. I’d give customer services a call and ask them. I had to call Amex last week and the wait time wasn’t too bad - about 5 minutes.2

Thanks, just spoken and yes can get a pro-rota refund which is good. Now just to work out whether to spend the points or transfergjpowen said:I may be wrong, but I think that you can cancel or downgrade and get a pro rata refund. Get the free Rewards Credit Card.
You'll lose your points otherwise. You should have applied for the free Reward Card first though and had your Amex Gold credit limit transferred over to your new card as part of the closure.0
