Ebay Car Purchase - Proof of ownership?
I was looking to buy a car and my boyfriend showed me a good option on Ebay. We went to see the car, and as I don't have an ebay account and as the bidding was finishing the second day, in the heat of the moment I told him to bid on the car.
Now, I think this may be a problem as i have to pay for the car...but the payment has to come from his account, would this make him the car owner?
How could I sort this out?

Don't worry!
"Ownership" of cars isn't recorded anywhere, just the same as your kitchen table, your jumper, just about everything else we own.
What IS recorded is who the registered keeper is - the name on the V5C, the person responsible legally for the vehicle - and that's simply what the vendor tells DVLA you've given him...0 -
Just make sure you protect yourself when buying a car, bank transfer when you collect or cash is what we have used. You should not use Paypal for items you collect.
Have you seen the V5C and is the sellers name on there? Depending on price it may be worth doing an HPI check as well.0 -

Are you paying PayPal or bank transfer? Bank transfer can just come from your account not his.
I would just get them to make the receipt payable to you and your name on the V5. This should clear up any issues if you and your bf split up or the bailiffs come knocking for him.0 -
His account won the bid, but yours can pay for the item. How much is it? Can you do bank transfer or cash on collection?
