Downgrading AMEX Gold to BA after first year

Hi everyone

Is it possible to downgrade an AMEX gold after the first year to the BA Amex without additional credit checks?

Thanks

When I appiled for the gold card I thought about moving to the cashback card however they told me I could only move to another MR card. So if I wanted the cashback card I would have to do a new application.
    For example:
    - Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card to Rewards Credit Card (Membership Rewards)
    - BA Premium Plus Card to BA Credit Card (Avios)
    - Platinum Cashback Credit Card to Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card (Cashback)

    Hi

Thanks for the information I will probably get the Gold card and then downgrade to the Rewards Card after the first year as the Membership Reward points can be transferred to BA Avios at the same value as Avios on the BA Card

I think you can only downgrade within the same card category- e.g Gold -> Green charge card or BA Premium Plus to BA Standard credit card.
anything else would need a new application and new check.

You can’t downgrade from Gold to Green as Gold is a credit card now and Green is a
charge card - unless you have the legacy Gold Charge Card before it changes to Green that is.
Plus the “benefits” on Green are not worth £60
    per annum.

I hadn’t realised they had changed the gold product from charge to credit card.  Though on my platinum card I can still add supplementary card holders and give them a gold charge card.
In which case it may well be possible to downgrade from gold credit card to BA standard card.

Yes the supplementary cards on Platinum can be either Gold or Green or the one other free Platinum card - but the benefits are all the same and apply to your account anyway as the
    main cardholder.

You can’t downgrade Gold to BA as it’s from a different “stable” - Gold being Membership Rewards and the BA cards being Avios Rewards.

Per your Bold text - you cannot downgrade - you have to apply for the free Rewards Card, get accepted, then close the Gold card.
There‘s no swap or downgrade option like there is with the charge cards.
