Small claims advice

I am in the process of defending a small claim made against me.
Its relatively low value, but i whole heartedly disagree with the claim made.
So, I have responded to the online claim made, and agreed to mediation, which was requested by the other party.
I also made a good will offer of half the amount owed.
That offer has been rejected and they have now said they won't accept anything other than a full refund.
Anywho....
Let's say that a judgement is needed from the court (either on line or via a hearing), and I lose. I would pay it immediately.
Do I get a CCJ against me, irrespective of immediately paying the judgement against me?
I don't want it to affect my credit file further or my ability to get home / car insurance.
Thanks in advance

You technically do get a CCJ against you (as it just means county court judgement) but it doesn't get recorded on your credit history as long as you satisfy it within the time allowed by the courts (usually a month).
The aim is not to penalise people just for contesting something they don't think they owe, but those who don't pay something the courts have deemed they do owe.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride2 -
