How to close a lloyds current account

Hi I need to close my lloyds current account and not sure how to do it. Its in my previous surname, but I've been using my maiden name again since my divorce went through January 2018, I just opened and new account instead of changing the name and I no longer have any ID with that surname on and no longer have my marriage certificate either. But I do not use this account now and want to close it.

The quickest and simplest way to do it without any hassle is to do a switch from your existing current account using the current account switch service

This may not work if the surnames on both accounts don't match up

Or write them a letter.  All it costs is a stamp.

"How do I close a current account?

To close your current account, please call 0345 300 0000 (+44 1733 347 007 from outside the UK). Textphone users can call 0345 300 2281 (+44 173 3347 500 from overseas). These numbers are available 7am - 11pm, 7 days a week. Alternatively, you can visit your local branch."

    That wasn't difficult to find!

You could also find the email address for the ceo online and email the request.

I had no luck doing it by telephone before because they kept saying they wanted a visit to branch to confirm everything, I emailed and was closed within a short period.

The only way i have ever closed bank accounts is through a letter, it is simple and effective as a PP said just costs a stamp, a few months ago i closed my accounts with Lloyd's bank through letter a week later i got a call from my local branch just confirming it was me and closed the accounts there and then.

Either phone or pen and paper.
Email might be worth a try but maybe the response will be slow.
