They will have your face on camera now and won't let you downstairs again to ruin his selling technique. Cause I'm sure after you left then everyone got their free knife and left lol

I have had the free knife! but years ago- it was when my mum bought the set and handed me over the free knife.

Its an ok knife and everything, but to be honest, Tescos Finest are just as good if not better. And although they are not free, you don't have to spend upwards of £20 on a set to get one!

Or alternatively, you could just sharpen the knives with a knife sharpener...?

(Straying from the point I know but the title did say chat!!)
  • Hi All,

I was in Tescos the other day buying lunch when the exact same thing happened to me. The same plant in the crowd who had no shopping but a small child (summer holidays) and she had owned one of these knifes for six years but was still happily watching the demonstration. The Knives cost £25 for a set of six in the end, which I actually purchased as it seemed to good to be true but the fall back was you could return these if you were not happy. (Which I did the next day) This is essentially a box of low quality knifes and the life time garuntee is that if you send them the old knife back and £4.00 they will send you a new one as long as they are trading. (the knife probably cost them less than 50p)

Be warned definately dont buy these and the free gift was very poor quality as well.
  • Just to confirm I took these back to tesco and got a full refund although the cahsier said there was no manager to authorise she would do it anyway. :j
  • I bought the knives from my local Tesco and got all the freebies. The knives are brilliant, really great buy for £20
  • Sorry everyone £25 Oh and a woman I actually know has had a set years and she tells me there still going strong.
  • Right let me enlighten you all about this so called set up / plant / market trading act . . . . I have worked doing this job in tescos , i know longer do as the travelling was doing my head in the reps that sell get between 4.25 to 6.25 per set sold , but have to pay all accomodation charges them selves and petrol , my mate is still doing it and earns week in week out min 1000 . And this time of the year earning 1800 plus . The bottom line is there is no plant in the audience these guys work very hard to earn there money so give them a break the product is awesome and anyone that says other wise is stupid i have a set and all my friends do , they work great and never go blunt, so please stop making stupid lies up , i know the truth as i have been there worked there and can honestly say the company is not dodgy they are based in margate called t and t trading and are huge american company , do you think tesco would let them in ? House of fraser ? Asda ? Morrisions ? . There is huge profit in them and ye they probably cost 50p to make but have a look at the trainers your wearing or your t shirt form china or your tv from china . . . Lets give these hard working proper sales people a break and if i were you go buy a set , they are decent trust me ,

i rest my case ha ha ha

    hi all

around 3.00 this afternoon i decided to have a late lunch and then take a stroll into house of frazer for a look in the warehouse section for the discount one day only special. I then heard a voice; telling all to make their way downstairs to the kitchen department, for a free surgery steel knife giveaway, no purchase necessary, now remember that point.

as i am a huge mse freebie fan, i jumped at the chance for yet another freebie of the day (have already received today a dove sample, pantene shampoo and conditioner, whiskers kitten pack, wellbeloved kitten food, also complained at macdonald’s because one of the girls had an attitude problem and received a free dessert).

once downstairs awaiting my free gift, a very ‘david dickson’ man started rambling on about giving us our “thank you, gift” once we had endured his very over the sales demonstration. (obviously he didn’t say that) i thought to myself, what’s 5 minutes out of my time for another freebie.

twenty minutes later, still intent on getting my gift and watching the girl opposite fascinated by everything he said, even though she had previously stated she had every knife in the collection and how wonderful they where:question: . Mr david told the audience to buy the fabulous set “you are saving a massive, massive amount on buying today” he then had the cheek to tell the audience to bring back the receipt, once we had made our purchase to receive our free knife.

by this point i was fuming, no purchase necessary my a**e. Since i am mse freebie fan, i have no shame when it comes to receiving freebies, walked straight up to him, insisted on my free knife that beckoned me down in the first place, which with evil eyes he passed over to me reluctantly. I then decided to blurt out in front of everyone "that girl worked for him, and she is a fake". In this time she went bright red and shouted no i am not (i hope she was after that, poor girl)

i would be interested if this happened in the other branches today?

OMG are you the David? why would I put myself through that a second time?

She was without a doubt, placed in the audience. I shall tell you why!

    1. She was on her own.
    2. She had no shopping with her.

Those things alone don't really indicate a plant. Anyone just browsing or passing through could fit that description..

    1. She was on her own.
    2. She had no shopping with her.
    3. She said she had every single knife the man showed to the audience.
    4. When asked if she liked the products, she said they where the best thing sinced sliced bread (no pun intended).
    5. I watched her face throughout the demo, and she had her mouth open in amazement. (if she had all the products, wouldn't she now how they worked?)
    6. Standing around at the end, didn't go to the till and didn't go up the man for a free knife.

It was a poor performance. If you look back through the posts a few others had seen demo's in other branches and agreed there was plants in the crowd

I used to work for the company that sells these knifes and I can tell you it was very hard work and commission based so if nobody bought you didnt get a penny, hence I dont work for them anymore. I can tell you honestly that nobody was planted in the crowd. I sometimes got people saying they had the knifes and loved them, because they are good knives! but to be able to sell them people had to see them and watch the demo hence the free gift enticement, It seems to me from the tone of your post that your proud of yourself for trying to make other people look small. did you ever stop to consider the feelings of the poor soul who was trying to make a living, nobody forces you to buy and 5 mins which is how long the pitch is, isnt much to ask for a free knife is it? shame on you.
    :hello: :rotfl:
