Experian and Link Financial

Hi - I hope everyone's doing ok. I've had a search through the forum but couldn't find an answer so here goes.
I received a letter from Link Financial a couple of months ago saying I'd defaulted - on what I don't know and I had no defaults showing on Experian - so I sent off the standard proof of debt letter to them. I hadn't heard back so I thought all's well, but on checking Experian today there's now a default showing against Link Financial.
So, simple question - what should my next step be?
Thanks!

Wait for the proof of debt and go from there.0

Thanks - nice avatar! Do you know what sort of timescale is usual for them to provide this?0

Send Link a 'proveit' letter if you have no knowledge of the account. The onus is on them to provide the proof. Use the letter template linked below:
Letter when you know nothing about the debt - AKA "Prove it" letter
And welcome to the forum
Edit: Check all three of your credit files to see if the Link account and default is recorded on any one of them.

Thanks - done that already and as I hadn't heard back I thought it was all done and dusted. What are the other credit files I should be checking as well as Experian?

Equifax and TransUnion.
Just request your free statutory report.
If you have already sent the 'proveit' letter then you need to escalate it as a complaint as a written complaint. They have up to eight weeks to resolve the problem.
Use the letter linked below as it quotes the legislation and guidance.
