Hi,
I want information from people expert on hardwares.
I will like to upgrade RAM on HP Pavilion ZV 6000 laptop (It has got XP Home edition, 64 bit processor).
My laptop has got 2 - 256 MB module DDR RAM installed on PC2700 in two different slots.
I have checked on www.orcalogic.com website regarding upgrade options available and it says, I can upgrade RAM to 2GB based on manufacturer and model number (Link) I have done scan on www.crucial.com as well and it says - maximum 512 MB RAM my system can have, which contradicts www.orcalogic.com (Apparently, they guarantee that it will be system compatible).
HP specifications says - it can support upto 2 GB DDR Memory
However, 1 GB RAM Module is very costly, costing 50 quids.
I have found one on www.play.com (Link). It is Kingston Valueram Computer Memory 1GB PC25300 DDR2 667MHz 200 Pin SO Dimm, for £12.99.
1. Will my laptop with PC2700 take RAM with PC25300 or not?
2. Do I need to replace in both the slots of RAM or one should do?
3. Is there any problem in replacing manufacturer supplied RAM with different RAM? (I am outside guarantte and warranty period).
Many thanks
