My wife is a home help ie self employed (linked to Age UK but not employed by them).

Afternoon,
My wife is a home help ie self employed (linked to Age UK but not employed by them).
She has not worked due to Covid-19 since the end of March.
She has been a home help through Age UK for just over a year usually earns around £300 - £350 a month and hasnt filed any accounts yet.
Can she claim assistance for loss of earnings?
Any help would be appreciated.

Regards Ian.

She is not entitled to any help regarding the self employed grant. If she started self employment before 6 April 2019, she should probably have completed a self assessment tax return. She should have registered with HMRC as self employed by now. A good starting point is https://www.gov.uk/working-for-yourself

As a couple you may be able to claim universal credit. If you are currently claiming tax credits, starting a claim for universal credit will stop tax credits forever.
