I never understand why more people don't use mobile mechanics. If you found one you could trust you'd be laughing. You'd know it had been done by the same person who you trusted. Taking it into a main dealer you have no idea who is messing with your car.
You've got no idea who's messing with your car first time you use a mobile mechanic you've never met so don't trust.

I bet you'd never get one to return to yours, I imaging you'd be standing over them like some sort of Harry Enfield character.
Have to say, after reading a few of Fred's posts lately, this is the image I have of him.

There's a hell of a lot of jobs that you wouldn't want a mobile mechanic to be doing grovelling in the gravel on the side of the road. You'd far rather have done on a lift in a workshop.

So use a small local indie garage... Best of both worlds!

(But with a main dealer, you do have a very good idea - it's a manufacturer-trained mechanic, using top-notch tools, diagnostics and OEM parts. You're paying through the nose for the pleasure, though, and they can't think outside the box.)
It's a major service. Oil & filter, few filters, maybe spark plugs and a few checks. No need to be near gravel. No top-notch tools required.
So sucker the oil out the filler, and let's hope the filter's nice and accessible. You won't be even looking at the brakes, and the fluid isn't due for a change? The fuel filter isn't underneath?

And let's hope there's no suspension bushes turn out to need doing...

And you aren't planning on checking for fault codes, or doing any software updates? Rear pads on something with an electronic handbrake, p'raps?

Just how do you change the oil and filter without getting cosy with the gravel? (assuming no hoist or pit)
I've done 4x4s without lifting them. But a Jack would suffice to get under most motors I would think.

You have no idea who a mobile mechanic is either. I’m not putting any mobile mech down but I wouldn’t want to be crawling under a car, it’s not fun checking things with your face right up to the car much easier on a ramp.

I don't have any problems servicing a car on the drive. A mobile mechanic must be happy to do it or he wouldn't be a mobile mechanic.

An oil and filter change is not a service.
a service is a full check of all items that can effect safety at a minimum

I can do a full service on the drive. Which particular items would you not be able to do?

It’s not a case of can’t do it. But lete give you an example when inspecting the braking system you need to check the brake lines for this you’d crawl under you can only see so much on your back as your less mobile, you can have a feel but depending on you axle stands....... you are using axle stands right? It’s not as easy to maneuver your arm is humans are missing two joints that would help immensely.
also some Vauxhall have a fuel filter by the tank imagine it being tight you can’t get your body weight behind the ratchet and oil filter above the exhaust flexy some even have it on the o/s/r of the engine above the subframe elbows in the way and very painful when you smash it into the ground.

you see any job that involves the underside of the car is much easier to do it standing up vs sitting or on your back

I don't have any problems. I have a nice flat drive without any gravel. I do jack the car quite high at times.
