Car Hire In Spain Without Credit Card?

Hi ya in a bid ot save money and pay debts off i no longer have a credit card. I am going on holiday in December to spain and need car hire for where im staying to get us about. Does anyone know of a car hire company in Murcia spain who will hire a car to me without ripping me off, would be great if i could pay whilst in the uk via their website using my maestro debit card to not get ripped off with exchange rates too, and also if anyone could give any promotional codes or discount codes to reduce the price for me lol Dont want much but hey dont ask dont get eh :rotfl:

I really struggled when I arrived at the airport, as I did not realise that I needed a credit card and only had a debit card ! I went to every car hire company at Malaga Air port and only 1 would accept a debit card and they were twice the price.
Getting a credit card for next trip !!

Dave, I think you may be being a bit harsh. While the newness of the poster may raise a suspicion, if you have a look at the Goldcar website you'll see that the information given is accurate, which is what the OP was looking for. Here's the relevant bit from the T&Cs:

We accept all major credit cards, VISA, MasterCard and debit cards. We do not accept Diners Club, American Express or cash. If you pay by debit card (EC-Karte) you must take out the additional Relax insurance which costs 30€ for up to 6 days, with 5€ more per day up to a maximum of 60€ for 28 days. If your car hire is for a longer period the cost is 90€

still of no use is that as you need a valid credit card when you collect the car

Also bear in mind goldcar charge you for a full tank of fuel at start of hire and you don't fill car up on return, just had to give a car back with half a tank of fuel, :mad:
