Ideas for some plants for the garden

One family of evergreen shrubs that I like are Euonymous Fortunei- one such is Emerald gaiety. They come in various shades of green/ variegated.
If you plant against a wall it will grow up it. I had one grew 12 ft up a wall that had clematis netting.
If planted in a bed it grows as a low bush. can be easily clipped into a mound. It seems to be a tough plant and thrives on being ignored!
You can grow cuttings over winter to make more small plants if needed

OK thanks. I saw some honesuckle in Wilko today. But I need some trellis first. Would I put them down all along the wall? I'm terrible at design. Sorry.

You can put plants in anticipating the arrival of a support. I've just done this with a rose, so I have a month to make the trellis panel. You'd need trellis to grow honeysuckle on those wallsI wouldn't put honeysuckle all along the wall. There are other climbing plants you could use for variation. Don't be in too much of a hurry to fill all the space with expensive things. For example, you might grow clematis on the wall areas, but only once you are sure the soil won't dry out too much. Try a tough one as an experiment.1

There are several different varieties of clematis- alpine, montana & the large flowered types. Flower at slightly different times, certainly different natures. The alpines are very delicate and can be overwhelmed by other plants, the montanas are a bit of a thug! I would second doing things gradually... some plants grow like twitch and then you have severe overcrowding so that you are forever cutting back.
In the past I had a pyracantha against a wall- very showy , evergreen but evil thorns- flowers and berries.
I also had a Garrya Elliptica which was (also evergreen) great until it grew into a small tree. It has the lovely tassel catkins
Make sure the trellis is very strong if a heavy weight plant is going to be there. In both cases my montanas pulled the trellis apart!- which was fixed above a fence- so in effect it wasn't really to support anything of weight. You can also use clematis 'netting' which lets smaller plants ramble and doesn't rot. I've had some on my walls - in shade- for over 20 years.
Jasmine will grow against a wall.
In all cases you need to plant a short distance away from the wall itself otherwise it is just too dry - and there may be hidden rubble too. Don't plant bang up against it.
