Evening all apologies if this is in the wrong forum, hopefully it isn’t. Have a quick query possibly pre-empting the future but would rather get info now so I know my rights.
We were due to travel to Majorca on 21st May for one week staying at Sol Calas De Mallorca, hotel and flights booked as seperate Items as the price it worked out as was unbelieveable for a half term (regret it now)
We have received notice of flight cancellation from Ryanair and have submitted the refund request, no issue there unless they try and send me a voucher etc. The issue may be with the hotel.
It was booked in November at a special black friday rate, I can’t remember if the site mentioned anything about refunds due to being a sale price or not. Once the threat of covid-19 became obvious and I pre-empted flights being cancelled I emailed the hotel to check my options and see what the state of play was if a cancellation happened. Below is a section of the reply from the guest experience manager:
We, can immediately cancel your reservation and return the money to you, within the times established by the Company and beyond our control. If not, wait more time and, if the situation cannot be controlled, we will cancel it later so you don't lose the price paid. Otherwise, if you want to cancel it now, then later if the situation improves and you would like to re-book, it will always be at the prices and conditions established and published in our web site

At the time of the reply I decided to wait things out and see how they went. I have tried to contact the hotel through email and twitter so far I have heard nothing back. I will give them a few more days as I understand they may have lots of requests like mine. Just wondering if they play hardball -looking at twitter they are trying to offer vouchers not refunds- or I dont have a reply, would I be best trying to claim back off credit card company or through the holiday insurance? Never had a situation like this before so unsure how to proceed. I should point out a voucher would be no good to us, my partner is a teacher and the only reason we got the holiday so cheap was because school offered a free day holiday to all staff as a one off allowing us to fly on a Thursday massively reducing costs. Secondly the hotel is meant to be an all inclusive only hotel yet I received an email last week stating they were no longer running AI due to coronavirus so even if we had managed to get there we wouldnt have received what we booked.
Sorry for the rant just looking for some
friendly advice
Thanks

The hotel won't be open, Spain has just started to ease the lockdown.
I would wait till the 22nd, then file a Section 75 with your credit card for non-supply
If you find out before that it's closed on your dates, then you can do it sooner.
I let other advise you RE: insurance
