Cruise Expectations

Hello All
I am in a very similar situation like many other where my final payment of our upcoming cruise with TUI.
I have been reading that some cruise operators may be starting up again in august 2020 (ours is october 2020), with extra health checks when on boarding and no self server buffets, and possibly less passengers  ..... ect.
If they ristrict things like no casino, no shows and no use of the cinema due to social distancing which is all part of the cruise experience this will impact our holiday.
We are going to have to part with over £2000 to pay the remaining amount in July. I am guessing they wont be able to answer my question at that point.

My question are you able to get a refund as the experience you booked is now not going to be the one on offer due to these restrictions?

Many thanks

Alan

Yes,  if it markedly different  they are in breach of contract so you entitled to a full refund.
They are allowed some changes like a closed pool,   but if no self server buffets, no entertainment  then I would say that's a marked difference.

All of the travel industry is going to have to adjust, but there are some particular issues for cruises that won’t be easy to resolve. It will be extremely difficult to get anywhere to land for instance. Will people be happy cruising if they aren’t allowed ashore?

I certainly don’t see the issues they have being resolved by August.

    I  agree

I never been on a cruise.
I was thinking one day I would go,  but  when the virus started to hit, I  was watching TV and the and the head of the prison guard union was saying how bad it was for prisons and it was like being on a cruise ship.
Since then I decided it's not for me.

I am due to go on a cruise through TUI on the 13th August. Especially given it includes stops in Italy I dont expect it will sail.

We are due to sail with Marella in early September but are planning to cancel prior to paying the balance in June unless some significant changes take place in the next few weeks.

The chances of a second wave of Covid are an unknown but we don't want to chance being held on the ship or, even worse, the possibility of ending up in a Greek hospital for a few weeks.

We would rather lose the deposit and know where we stand.

I suspect the cruise cancellation date gets pushed back soon anyway, currently its all sailings until 30th June.
