The question should be how many people that have worn masks regularly have still caught the virus, and if so what type of grade masks have they been wearing... I'd like to know this? Even wearing a mask in public doesn't mean that when you get home and take it off someone in your household doesn't pass it on that might not have been taking similar precautions. I've tried to wear a PP2 mask as often as possible when out shopping and I also have a homemade mask using fabric. I dont wear masks when walking down the road to the shops but instead choose to put it on just before I go into the shops. I try and cross roads before crossing paths with someone walking down the street. However, my partner chooses not to wear a mask and rather lifts her jacket over her face or instead uses a scarf. We've had plenty of arguments as she refuses to wear a mask out in public so for all my hard work it might well be pointless really but I still choose to wear a mask.

With regards to your point of not being able to see light, I don't personally buy this. I watched a video some weeks ago that was by a medical officer abroad I believe, and they mentioned that if using a home made fabric mask, flatten out the front side that would be covering your face and place it under a tap and gently run the water.  Does the water penetrate into the fabric and pass through or does the water sit on the surface. This should give an indication as to how your mask would protect you. Also if wearing gloves whilst out shopping then take these off before removing a mask, which I think most people do anyway.

Surely, if you can breathe with the mask on, the virus can get through?
Also, with the mask on your face, you'll be touching it all day long by taking it off and moving it in correct position on your face.
Well there's one thing for certain, I won't be wearing one!
Not sure if anyone is advising wearing one all day long, in fact quite the opposite. Depending on the mask, some can get damp over time and less effective, so advise is to use it for minimal time as possible and only in situations where social distances isn't possible of enough. NHS professionals were told to wear masks for a maximum of 4 hours and change between patients, though this advice has been changed but only purely because of limited supplies of PPE.

Many masks will let the virus through, but the idea is many simple masks can help stop the wearer spreading it by reducing the moisture coming out into the air, so everyone wearing one stops the spread, but they do very little to stop you catching it. However the masks are not as effective as social distancing at slowing/stopping the virus.

Masks like N95 and N99 filter out very small particles so can well stop the virus, but again their effectiveness is reduced as they get damp, so regular changing and disposal is needed. They tend to only be used for short periods as it is harder to breathe with them on.

I made my masks by myself using tissue, used 2 different types. One for the inside part, one (colorful) for the other and a piece of elastic band to do the part you will knot behind your ears :) Took me around 30 mins to do one mask. I am sure there are some videos on the internet, haven't you checked YouTube?

Nope Firefox doesn't seem to be able to reply as to why they said my thread was hearsay then the thread disappeared. Perhaps Firefox is not as knowledgeable as they claim. Well, we all make mistakes.
How is Firefox expected to know why a thread has disappeared - they didn't remove it.
Firefox certainly can tell me why they said my single post was hearsay. Why are they unwilling to answer that? That's the pertinent question .

No... And there certainly was NO hearsay in my postings... That's why I wondered why Firefox_had posted that.. But he seems unwilling to answer.

    Err no...
The virus droplets are much larger than air molecules, so the mask blocks the droplets but allows air molecules through.
And no, you don't touch it all day because one, you aren't wearing it all day and two, they fit securely in position.

If you want to put yourself in harms way by not wearing a P3 mask that's up to you. I certainly won't be.
