Marbles Credit Card - is it a legit company? How did they get my details?

I just received an email from a company called Marbles saying they are replying to my email of 27th of April (I DID NOT EMAIL THEM. I HAVE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THEM UNTIL NOW). They had my name and postcode on it. They said they are confirming that my direct debit has been set up. It says I cant reply to the email. I googled the site and then sent them an email asking if this was a legit email. But now I regret that as I have no idea if Marbles is even a legit company? And how did they get my details because I certainly didn't apply for a credit card with them? Surely they would need my bank details in order for them to take payment? Any advise on what I should do? Should I contact my bank and tell them not to pay Marble? Thanks for any advice

    Yes, they're legit.

    As above, call the fraud department.  You don't need to trouble your bank with it.

    If they've set up a direct debit - and you know it's not you - as others have said - get on the phone asap - and tell them you haven't applied for a card, and ask what's going on.

    Look at your bank online and see if you can see the direct debit listed as well.

    Its likely someone has just used your details to obtain a card.

    ...And cancel the direct debit if it is there. If it isn't, keep looking. It can take several days for a new DD to appear in online banking.

    Yes, they're legit.
    Well, the brand may be "legit" but there is no credit card company called "Marbles". The one company registered with Companies House as "Marbles Limited" is evidently not in the credit card business:

    Hi,
    Marbles credit cards are provided by Newday, the same people behind the Argos card, amongst others.
    OP, its more than likley you have just received a dodgy spam email, i get stuff like that all the time, if you haven`t given your bank details to anyone, then there will be no direct debt, names and postcodes are not hard to find, if your still unsure, ring Newday/Marbles customer services to check, details here ;

    If someone was going to fraudulently open a credit card with someone else's details, they wouldn't use the persons email address?
