At this stage - you don't know for sure it's 'their fault' as you haven't spoken to them. Let's say it's a fixed contract of £20 a month - each month the debit would have taken £20 - and over 6 months that would be £120 - that money that WOULD have been taken SHOULD still be in your husband's account - so if they ask for payment - you should be just paying them what they would have been paid anyway. However if he's the kind of person who doesn't keep an eye on what's what - then it could be possible he's spent it without realising. The best thing you can do is to get in touch with them and see what's going on. There's a chance that he (inadvertently) cancelled a direct debit for example. If you don't speak to them, you may find the account gets handed to a debt collection company - but that's unlikely at this stage if he still has a live connection. Something is obviously wrong - so get in touch with them, and work out how to put it right. I'm sure they'll be co-operative in the current circumstances to come to an amicable solution.
