Ryanair Flights booked for July

I am due to fly to dublin on the 14th July and booked to stay in a hostel. According to the latest government advice, they are not planning on allowing accommodation to open until around 20th July 2020 and Ryanair are not waiving flight change fees for July. They charge £90 to amend flight date. Their chat service are useless, they say it's not their problem. That is so unfair.

Technically if it’s the accommodation not opening but the flights will be operating at that point (not that we know that for sure at the moment anyway) then Ryanair at this point aren’t doing anything wrong? All they have to do is allow you to board the aircraft and get you to and from your travel destination.

Honestly I would wait a few more weeks on this as I would expect it to change shortly again anyway.

The ongoing pandemic is an unprecedented situation, this is not my fault. It's clear that Ireland don't want any tourists until after the 20th July 2020. I feel that Ryanair should understand people might not want to travel given the current circumstances and should be waiving flight change fees.

It would be cheaper to rebook for a different date instead of paying £90 to change the date on an existing booking. Where would I stand with my credit card company if I chose not to fly on 14th July and rebooked for a different date. The flights cost less than £100 on a clarity credit card?

St the moment the contract to fly to to X on Y date is still in effect. Contract law has not been changed. Until such time as the contract fails (if they don't/can't fly you) you are stuck with the contract or the cost of amending it.

Like a lot of people, I have a couple of bookings. One will refund (Easyjet) and the other (a greek ferry company) will only give me a credit note as that is greek law at the moment. There is no special arrangements to suspend contract law. If they did, the backwash of legal claims would make the cost of this pandemic look cheap.

If the flight operates and you choose not to fly then any and all costs associated with rebooking, or losses if you don't rebook, will be for you to pay - same as at any other time. You don't get your money back for changing your mind.

I'm not changing my mind - I actually want to go. How can I go fly to dublin when there is no accommodation open? Where am I supposed to sleep and freshen up?

And none of that is the problem of the airline.

Not the airline's problem. Their only obligation is to provide you with a seat on the flight you booked. Tens of thousands of passengers have been placed in the same situation of not being able to get a refund unless the flight is cancelled - including me.

    Hi
I book a villa in Spain to go on holiday on the 12th of June with friends but booked my flights separately as we were flying from different parts of the country. The holiday villa company had no problems refunding are money for the villa as we will be unable to travel to Spain under the current situation. but ryanair are still telling me my flight isn't cancelled so i am not entitled to a refund although Spain are not allowing tourist from Britain in at the moment and i have no where to stay .is this right

It is not the airlines responsibility to provide accommodation.  If they feel they can fly safely they will and either you fly, lose your money or pay to amend.  This is why it is often cheaper to book individual items than a package holiday, if it had been a package holiday you would have had protection.

Probably shouldn't have cancelled accommodation until flights become a bit clearer.
