O/S Daily Saturday 2 May 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Sun trying to break through the clouds here, dry underfoot but air is cool.
DH watching tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was enchildas with rice and a side of baked flat mushroom - absolutely delicious it was no complaints. Not sure what we'll be having tonight. Made bread yesterday and have some left so that will get eaten today. Shopping was fine yesterday although still no flour or yeast.
Back to work for me on Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks - thanks for starting us off NMLC.It's a lovely morning again so I'm hoping that the rain will stay away today. I'm just about to leave for the early doors happy hour shopping. Today I've got three lots to get so need to be organised. I'll probably linger at the gazebo market to have a flat white and long distance chats with complete strangers.Once I'm back there's very little to do... feeding, watering and nuturing DM is the whole of it.Yes, the letterbox flowers are from BW, they are beautiful. It's just amazing how they come looking all ragged and, after a couple of hours in water, just look stunning. Mind you, I've been buying peonies recently for DM's room, the way they behave is truly wonderful, opening up more and more almost in front of your eyes. They are so huge and blousey and the the colour fades from red to pink to white. Just worth watching!Right, no more waffling. Hugs to those in pain or misery. Happy Saturday to all.14

Morning All
It's a beautiful sunny morning and the birds are singing their little hearts out. The bedding is on the line, will put the bath mats and a throw in later.
Hope you're OK RR and you spoke to someone about the swelling.
Happy Shopping Gers!
My uncle lost his battle with this dreadful disease and passed away very early this morning. Although I didn't get to see him very often, I will miss him. He was the funniest, most charming uncle ever.
Anyway, I must go and get some more compost this morning, I planted up the hanging baskets yesterday and some troughs for the front garden so my supplies are somewhat depleted. I'll also go to the allotment to plant the courgettes, they were delivered the other day and are bursting out of their little pots. Whilst I'm there I will borrow some more pots for the tomato seedlings.
Have a good Saturday, take care. XX13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A nice bright start here too and the forecast for the week ahead is looking good.
I have my winter weight rain jacket in the wm and fingers crossed it doesn't come to grief in the wash! At this time of year I usually swap my winter clothes into the back wardrobe and bring my spring/summer stuff into the front wardrobe. But I'm wondering if to bother the way life is for the foreseeable. Whilst I am confined to barracks I am living in t shirts (and jumper when necessary) and my trusty joggers, though they did get changed for shorts and vest top in the nice warm spell!
I got flowers too yesterday but not as posh as the B & W ones that GERS got! When DS brought my few bits from Morrisons he also gave me a lovely bunch of lilies as he knows how much I like them. Once they open I love their scent when I open the lounge door each morning.
Sparkle is sitting watching the birds to-ing and fro-ing to the birdtable. I must go out and feed them next as supplies out there are looking a bit depleted. I think come fledging time it will be awash with young sparrows as the sumach in the front is never without bonking sparrows just now!!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. REDRUBY I hope you are ok and got advice about the swelling. Condolences to CAMELOT. Sad times for a lot of us just now. Take care all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning everyone
Lovely and sunny here too this morning - I'm planning to paint my shed and planters today. Our Homebase opened yesterday and DD managed to get me the last tin of paint on the shelf.
Have a few inside jobs to do while outside is warming up a bit and really need to dye my hair at some point as it's looking rather white!
Hope you all have sunshine too - it certainly helps make this situation more bearable doesn't it?

Good morning, after yesterday's heavy rain, everything looks fresh and green in the sunshine.
I've done a load of washing, the washing line is full and I have a rack of other stuff airing indoors as it has been too wet to hang things outside for most of the week.
DS thinks I have put some of his tshirts in with his dad's tshirts as he seems to have a depleted pile and he is probably right. Especially if I put them away late at night. I will go and look later.
I have things to do today but they are not interesting at all so I shan't bore you all with them. The only interesting thing - and of very minor interest - is writing a knitting pattern for a friend. And I do need to cut my fringe as I can hardly see out.
Camelot I'm sorry to hear about your uncle.
Red Ruby, hope you are more comfortable today.
TA I have no bonking sparrows, just pigeons. If the small birds are bonking, they are doing it elsewhere.
Hope everyone has a reasonable day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning all! Sunny and bright this morning, and the weather says it's going to be sunny and cloudy, huzzah! Don't know what I'm doing today, supper is sorted, we're still eating lasagne, and we've got that tonight too. I think a chicken chasseur will be on the menu tomorrow, or some kind of spicy chiken, not sure yet, depends on how much work I'll fancy doing.Still getting used to this computer and the display, keep faffing with setting to make it easier, although the mouse and keyboard are a lot more responsive considering the usb connections are now at the back. And it's physically a lot smaller too. Display and sound are pretty much the same for tv programmes or films, the display is a bit crisper. If it rains again, the film fest is on! Just have to remember to make popcorn
I have two hard drives on the old one, both 750gb which I'm going to try to shoehorn in the new one for extra storage. And see if the ram is compatible. So nothing large looms this weekend, just basic pottering with a side order of avoid housework...The grass needs cutting anyway..Camelot, my condolences to you and your family. AOD, if he put his own t shirts away he'd know
TA, I have some calla lilies from a clump that were my mothers and they're just starting to flower now. I love the way they unfurl. They also remind me of a board guide on a board I used to post on for fine art, her name was Callie ad she loved lilies too. Hey all reading along, hope you're safe and sound. Sumptuous Saturday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -

Morning all
Bright and sunny here but with a bit of a sharp wind, hopefully the wind will drop tonight and we can bbq I so love eating in the garden.
I felt so rough yesterday I basically slept all day I only came out of the bedroom for food and drinks
I do feel much better today though so it must have done me some good.
I phoned the breast nurse again yesterday who reassured me that the lump is perfectly normal and to be expected, I have a check up at the hospital next Wednesday and the consultant will have a look then, having said that I went back on the 4 hourly Ibuprofen yesterday and its gone down this morning
I have put a towel wash on and someone will hang it out after, OH is going to cut the lawns and I shall waft around tidying a few bits here and there (they will not let me do anything else)
Camelot I am so sorry to hear about your uncle xx
TA watch Sparkle with those Lillies cats are allergic to them. I planted a few arum lillies in a border out the front a few years ago they have grown beautifully and have taken over the whole border, its quite a sight to see when they are all in flower.
Have good days all xx
