Epson printers and generic cartridges

Hi.
I have recently read that all Epson printers made after February 2007 will not accept generic (and much cheaper) ink cartridges.
If this is true then it really defeats the point in buying a cheap epson printer in the first place.
Has anyone had any problems? Or ideally found away around this problem.
Cheers.

I think the latest compatible carts have got around the problem, as I seen some that now claim to be compatible with all versions of the R265 etc (which was one of the printers that had an update to stop it working with compatibles around March).
From memory www.svp.co.uk sell a large range of the carts, and I believe state if they work with the newer versions (I tend to use them a lot for ink and blank disks etc;))0 -
Ooops...
That link doesn't work too well (for me). Goes to www.svp.com, which is French something-or-other.
What you need is svp.co.uk0 -
you can also buy chip resetters too, for little money.
try choicestationery for cheap carts.
