There is no tax to pay as you didn't fly.
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

Were the flights booked DIRECT with Emirates or via a nameless third party creaming their percentage off the refund?
  • I booled the flights through a third party so not sure what they are gaining, thank you

you need to check the third party terms and conditions you agreed to, it is pretty normal for them to have an admin/service fee for doing the work to get the refund from the airline processed for you

Erm, some money as per the terms you probably agreed to?

    Hi
My wife and son were to fly out to India in March, with the lockdown imposed by the Indian authorities and advise from the FCO they did not fly. We have travel insurance with our credit card provider who said they would take on the claim. We submitted all the documentation ref invoices and no fly certificates from the airline on the said dates. Three weeks later we have had a phone call back from the travel insurance to say all is good with the claim and will authorize the claim minus the Air Passenger Duty,  we are to claim this back from the Airline/Travel agents. We have contacted the airline (Emirates) and they told us to contact the agents as we had not purchased the tickets direct with them. We have tried to contact the agents and we are struggling to get in the contact with them. We have been informed by the insurance they cannot carry on with the claim until we have Air passenger duty back from the airline or the agents.  So my question is should the travel insurance be paying the full amount minus any excess or should I be claiming the Air Passenger Duty back from the airline/agents.
